Custom tile installation in a Lynnwood, WA home

How to make your flooring special with ceramic tile

Right now, the rustic look is in, and we see everything from fauna, foliage, and even trees in the kitchen. If that style is for you, consider ceramic-like terracotta tile flooring. That beautiful reddish-brown color combined with unsurpassed durability makes it an excellent choice for busy rooms like the kitchen.

Ceramic tiles
come in an assortment of designs, styles, shapes, and sizes and, while the most common shapes are squares and rectangles, they can also be brick or pebble-like, as well as round or oval. If it's made of clay, it's considered ceramic, even if the composition also includes sand and glass.

Wood, fabric, leather, stone

Wood floors are trending, and that?s expected to last at least 15 years. Wood-look tiles come in various colors, including gray, ivory, high variation, ebony, and more, and can be used in any room in the house, including the wet and steamy bathroom. If you want to use the tiles outside, choose them with porcelain, a ceramic that can withstand any weather. Porcelain is often also preferred for stone looks, such as marble and granite, because of the large format and fewer seams.

You can also create your unique designs with border tiles like listellos or mural tiles, individual pieces that makeup one big picture. The tiny, glass-coated pebble-like mosaics are often used as accents. While technically not ceramic, glass tiles will add some sparkle and glamour to your installation.

Inkjet technology

No conversation about tile would be complete without a mention of Inkjet Technology. Up until fairly recently, tiles were hand-painted, a process that was time-consuming and not accurate. This technology is much like a computer printer with four spouts that spew different colored inks simultaneously. This allows for more realistic representations (like wood looks) and intricate designs.
